Job Description

Vice Presidents will take a proactive leadership role across client work, team leadership, business management, and agency initiatives. Vice Presidents are responsible for acting as the senior account lead, primary and strategic advisor to the client, and the visionary director to the internal account teams. This role reports directly to the CEO.

Vice Presidents are part of Rsquared Communication’s executive team, helping lead and grow the agency. They are both the strategic voice and lead counsel to clients, as well as masterful executors who roll up their sleeves to get results. A Vice President has the interest and skills to create comprehensive client campaigns, generate new business, and/or run significant parts of the agency’s operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall success and health of accounts
  • Manages the budgeting, planning, and staff development for assigned teams
  • Works with director and operations to finalize client budget and billing
  • Oversees overall tone and quality of client communications and materials
  • Commands respect of clients when delivering strategic recommendations; demonstrates excellent judgment in difficult client and staff situations
  • Serve as senior mentor to all agency team members as well as managing direct reports through goal setting, standing 1:1 meetings and annual reviews
  • Prepares executives for high level interviews and briefings, develops crisis response programs
  • Leads high level positioning and message development: extrapolates market position, competitive set, and key message
  • Plays leadership role to entire agency, develops and leads agency trainings
  • Provides input in hiring decisions, mentors staff and manages review process
  • Represents agency and/or clients at key industry events. Drives and manages proactive new business efforts.
  • Seeks out ongoing, independent professional development that can be translated into agency trainings
  • Management of $1.5M in annual billings and/or lesser billings coupled with significant agency management responsibilities

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Well-established, demonstrable media contacts across top-tier business and technology outlets
  • Minimum ten years of public relations, media relations, and corporate communications experience (can be combined); some agency and direct technology experience required
  • Five years experience in building, managing, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications specialists of direct experience managing teams within an agency environment
  • Five years of project management expertise
  • Track record of success in running media relations programs in the technology sector
  • Individual ability to secure tier one coverage through effective targeting, pitching and interacting with media
  • Well-established methodology on measuring the ROI of communications activities
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Sophisticated interpersonal skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence
