Job Description

Account Executives playing a key support role on client teams. They have 3-5 years experience and can lead key initiatives and teach junior teammates basic PR skills. Account Executives have an understanding of the core tactical execution of a public relations campaigns.

Role Requirements:

  • Key executor on account teams to implement PR activity
  • Draft news releases and pitches
  • Prepare weekly agendas and quarterly reports
  • Establishing relationships with diverse media and influencers, pitching stories, and/or conducting targeted outreach and translate these connections into media opportunities
  • Client management delivered with the tone and strategic thinking that sets Rsquared Communication apart
  • Build and maintain media lists
  • Participate in creating tactical plans for clients
  • Continually look to identify various client opportunities
  • Provide proactive suggestions and solutions to meet client objectives
  • Keep abreast of each client’s industry, competition and coverage
  • Build relationships with clients and the media
  • Support developing client proposals
  • Network with industry and potential clients, building local brand awareness

Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-depth analysis into events, announcements, campaign and coverage recaps
  • Partner on development and implementation of communication strategies, plans and launches that align with client’s objectives
  • Execution of tasks associated with projects
  • Communicates accurately and keeps the team and client informed on progress, ensuring expectations are managed and any issues are escalated in a timely fashion
  • Internalizes Rsquared’s brand of client management and communication in written reports, email communication and calls
  • Creation of effective media pitches, press releases, bylines, profiles, and emails
  • Manage approval and editing processes with key client contacts
  • Proactively identifies strategic opportunities for client coverage
  • Manage client meetings, agendas, and recaps
  • Builds and manages media and feature lists, recommending appropriate opportunities
  • Builds trusted relationships with journalists and media professionals covering their specialism/client area and develops their external network
  • Passion for knowledge, and proactively stays current on news related to clients and industry trends, and seeks to apply this knowledge in their work
  • Manages departmental administration and supports the team, ensuring internal processes are followed
  • Understands the relationship between client service and profitability, and works within the boundaries of budgets

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • BA in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years’ of PR experience, with at least 1 year of PR agency experience
  • Provide tactical advice, draft plans, craft materials and track coverage
  • Solid media relations experience
  • Strategic thinker who provides proactive suggestions and solutions
  • Ability to work across multiple and diverse clients; skilled at prioritizing workload and deliverables to meet client and team deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Consistent demonstration of hitting deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, self-directed and motivated
  • Welcomes complexity and non-linear projects
  • Strong writing and content generation skills, with experience creating bylines, blog posts, pitches, and press releases
  • Experience assisting with developing and executing PR plans
  • A desire to learn, improve and apply new skills and knowledge
  • Personal drive and passion for the industry
