Account Director

Rsquared Communication is seeking an sophisticated communicator and ambitious team player who will play a critical role in the business as a Director. In this role you’ll oversee account management, with a focus on strategic oversight and guidance of internal teams, clients, and the agency. The Director is responsible for managing teams and resources. This full-time position is located in our beautiful South Park office in San Francisco, and you’ll report directly to the CEO.

You will be responsible for the success of teams and accounts - including overall strategy, client counsel, major launches and ongoing communications programs, staffing, forecasting, team health, budgeting, and planning. In addition, you will participate in the continued success of the agency through active participation on the agency leadership teams, informal mentoring, and formal career coaching.

The Director is expected to participate in new business initiatives, internal marketing efforts, events, and application of campaign development and measurement.

Requirements

  • 7-12 years of public relations, media relations, corporate communications (can be combined) experience, with demonstrated success in the following: managing and developing key personnel (strategy, implementation, client relations and counsel, staff oversight and mentoring, and agency fiscal management).
  • 3-7 years of direct experience supervising individuals and managing teams
  • 4+ years of project management
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Well versed in industry knowledge
  • Understands complex products, services and solutions

  • Media / Analyst Relations: Strategically directs major media programs, campaigns, and events; Has established relationships with multiple media/analysts across a variety of sectors and leverages relationships to secure strategic media opportunities for the clients and the agency
  • Strategy: Is a strategic problem solver for teams and clients; Identifies opportunities to grow existing accounts through additional agency service offerings; Analyzes and develops creative communications plans to achieve client and agency goals; Demonstrates understanding of client brands, and overarching communication goals
  • Speaker/Awards Program: Consults and contributes to high level message development
  • Client Knowledge: Brings a big picture view to develop goals, predict outcomes, and direct efforts for best client, investor, and agency business results; Understands market position, competitive set, and key messages
  • Messaging/Positioning: Provides strategic insights and counsel; Participates in development of high level positioning and messaging for clients and the agency; Leads or co-leads messaging/positioning sessions; Oversees and directs thought leadership programs
  • Account Management: Manages teams with a focus on Account Supervisor and Senior Account Executive development; May be responsible or actively involved in profitability of accounts; Oversees client budget, monthly billing, and client communication; Reviews monthly reports to ensure R2 contributions are apparent
  • Agency Roles: Active in planning agency trainings; Provides input in hiring decisions; Conducts and provides constructive feedback for annual reviews; Proactively mentors and provides feedback and constructive suggestions to teams/peers; Contributes to annual account review; Contributes to training and development program; Represents agency and/or clients at key industry events
  • New Business: Participates in new business process
